UPDATED Talk about a cool summer job: Cody Gifford, Kathie Lee Gifford's son, has joined his mom in front of the cameras, providing weekend movie reviews every Friday this summer during TODAY’s fourth hour as part of his summer internship on the show.
Though he's only 20, Cody has credentials for the gig; he is a film studies major at the University of Southern California and plands to direct movies after he graduates. Besides, he feels his youth helps him keep pace with the tempo of the times: "As you get older, you get a little out of touch with contemporary films," he says. "It's not your generation anymore."
As critics go, Cody is no pushover. Though he said "Toy Story 3" is "definitely a winner," he was less than thrilled with "Sex and the City 2" and "Jonah Hex." But he has only glowing reviews for his TODAY gig, as a New York Post story quoting from his TODAYshow.com interview (not "NBC.com," as The Post calls us) points out.
"It's a great summer internship," Cody says, adding that he doesn't think "I could have asked for a better one."
