TODAY’s exclusive interview with Kayla Manson, the 13-year-old charged as an accomplice in the text-rage beating of Josie Ratley, has been generating a lot of buzz on Twitter and elsewhere online. When asked by Meredith Vieira to repeat the contents of texts sent to Ratley by the alleged attacker, 15-year-old Wayne Treacy, Manson did so – dropping the “c-word” in the process.
We have removed the audio from our Central, Mountain and Pacific feeds, as well as online. Vieira also apologized on air.
“I just want to apologize to our audience at home for some of the rough language in that last segment in that last half hour,” Vieira said. “And it’s really not Kayla’s fault. I asked her about the text message, and she didn’t realize — she was giving me verbatim what was in it. She didn’t know there are certain words you can’t say on television. Anyway, we do apologize for that.”
